According to Ashley Kahn's book "Kind of Blue: The Making of the Miles Davis 
Masterpiece," he estimates cumulative world-wide sales of 5 million as of 
the year 2000. But it's also worth noting that compiling sales figures for 
overseas markets is often problematic. You have to wonder how many bootlegs 
of KOF are sold in China every year?
