Our fellow jazz programmer's will enjoy learning more about this growing
jazz/education festival in the Midwest region. One station will tip their
hat with a nod of approval to honor Clark Terry - a native St. Louis living
legend, humanitarian and educator. Enjoy! Dawn DeBlaze

Expanded Jazz Festival welcomes Clark Terry home

By Terry Perkins

The Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival returns this Friday and Saturday for its
third year, and this time around the event is branching out from its home
base at the University of Missouri at St. Louis campus to include events at
Jazz at the Bistro in Grand Center. According to Jim Widner, coordinator of
jazz studies at UMSL and the driving force behind the event, the expansion
of the festival to Jazz at the Bistro came about through necessity - but the
added venue fits the festival's mission in more ways than one.
