Much as I understand (and buy some of) your argument, the above  doesn't take 
heed of the fact that these shows are "drive time" shows. After  Morning 
Edition, people are at work...listenership drops, no matter what's on  the air. 
After ATC, they're home for dinner, radio's off. Same result: listening  drops. 
Statistically, the above is bovine-based fertilizer.
