Here is some early info on new Jazz/Blues one-hour specials that should be ready by late-August, definitely by Labor Day. Can you please let me know which of these interest you? I'll have more details on each of these soon.

DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND: WHAT'S GOIN' ON

To commemorate the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band pays tribute to its New Orleans home by reinterpreting Marvin Gaye's classic album, "What's Goin' On." The members of DDBB perform live and discuss the relavance of Gaye's message to the people of New Orleans - both before and after the hurricane. Produced by Tres Hombres (Herbie Hancock - Imagine the Possibilities; Chuck Berry - Hail Hail Rock & Roll).

FATS WALLER

One-hour special salutes jazz icon Fats Waller with music from throughout his tragically short career. The program also features commentary from musicians, historians, friends and family members about his life and the impact he made on both jazz and pop music. Produced by Joyride Media (Nina Simone - Forever Young Gifted & Black, Sam Cooke - Bring it on Home to Me).

DEREK TRUCKS BAND: LIVE IN PHILADELPHIA
Fri, Aug 18, Noon EDT

One-hour concert broadcast at Philadelphia's World Café Live by the genre-defying band led by "possibly the finest guitarist of his generation" (Rolling Stone). This special show on Fri, Aug 18 at Noon EDT will air live in Philly on Wxpn and will be available to NPR affilates nationwide via the PRSS. The program may be aired live and possibly also recorded for a later broadcast.
