[JPL] Lorraine and Toshiko specials

Lorraine Gordon, author of the newly published book "Alive at The 
Village Vanguard" and proprietor of that famous jazz institution, will 
be guest on Jazz After Hours (PRI) this Sunday morning 11/12 in the 2 
o'clock hour (ET).   She'll recount some of the history of the famous 
club and Blue Note records, Thelonious Monk and others.  Music in this 
hour and part of the following hour includes a sampling of the more 
than 100 albums recorded "Live at the Village Vanguard."

Toshiko Akiyoshi is heard in a solo piano concert at the Seattle Asian 
Art Museum on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM (PT) exclusively on "Jazz 
Northwest" on KPLU  88.5 and www.kplu.org.  The concert was part of the 
recent Earshot Jazz Festival in Seattle.  Toshiko Akiyoshi has received 
many honors as pianist, composer and bandleader was recently named a 
"Jazz Master" by the National Endowment for the Arts.   In the concert 
she also provides background to several of her original compositions.   
This program will also be available as a podcast for a week beginning 
Monday.
