I agree with Bobby, it was about Wayne and Joe.... but personally I loved the "Miroslav era" myself!

I wouldn't say Weather Report was better with Jaco but he contributed
mightily to their sound as much with his pen as with his playing.  I
didn't like the band with Miroslav nearly as much as I did with Alphonso
Johnson and the others who came after him who brought the funk.  

No disrespect to any of the players who held down the bass chair in that
band but the sound of Weather Report is Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul in
no particular order.
