PREMIER SUNDAY on Beyond Jazz…XM 72

This Sunday, September 17th, may go down in history as the biggest
Premier Sunday ever here on Beyond Jazz as we present five more new
projects for your pleasure.

First, it’s John Scofield, once again joined by John Medeski, Billy
Martin & Chris Wood as MEDESKI, SCOFIELD, MARTIN & WOOD, with their new
collaboration “OUT LOUDER.” It’s the long awaited follow-up to their
first collaboration, the 1998 Scofield classic “A GO GO.” If this stuff
doesn’t get you then I suggest you have someone check your pulse.

Then, it’s a collaboration featuring two more superstars, Pat Metheny
and Brad Mehldau, joined by drummer Jeff Ballard and bassist Larry
Grenadier, on the new CD “METHENY MEHLDAU,” It’s stripped down, pure,
high-level improvisation by two of the finest players of their
instruments…ever.

Then, pianist, composer and bandleader Michael Wolff adds the word
VOCALIST to his credits with his astounding new CD titled “Love And
Destruction.” We’ve been given an advance on this great, new work that
won’t hit the stores for another month. It features cool vocalizing
and his usual great piano playing on Michael Wolff originals, as well
as his inventive, jazzy take on everything from Radiohead to The
Rolling Stones.

And we’ll top it off with two more new ones. First it’s heroes of the
Chicago underground jazz scene, Tortoise, with cuts from a new
collection titled “A Lazarus Taxon,” followed by guitarist Bill Frisell
in collaboration with two of the greats of jazz bass and drums on the
new CD titled “Bill Frisell, Ron Carter & Paul Motion.”

Listen for cuts from these cool, new releases beginning at 9 PM
Eastern/6 PM Pacific, on another Premier Sunday…part of The Sunday
Specials from XM 72, Beyond Jazz.
