Young people generally don't have much, if any, disposable money available for public radio financial support. So keeping the funds coming in is the most important thing for management.
Having said that, someone has to replace the old guard, eventually. Still haven't seen any convincing data on young people are more abundant than older folk, and that said young people also are willing to give up some dough to support jazz radio. Anybody got research on that?
My take on this is play CDs and perform , for that matter, from any composer you want. Play it latin, blues, straight ahead...whatever. Just play it.
Because...Cool is forever. It really is.
