[JPL] Programmers....Sit or Stand?

I was thinking about Ed's post in that it's recommended that the board be 40".....That's interesting because for someone tall like me...6'4".....standing.....that would be tough. Ed, would you say that's an industry standard with the studio boards?
George......in 1975 I was in a motorcycle accident. I was hit from behind while stopped at a light. I had back problems for years and playing drums in clubs was brutal because of the long time you had to play. Not like a concert. I use to play bent over a bit because in my coconut it looked cool and I saw Buddy Rich do it but then by the end of the evening my back would be killing me. I realized my height actually was causing me problems so I made the adjustments and now when I play I'm straight up and the same with radio and I don't have those back problems anymore. You're right. I've sat for 18 years hosting my show and not sure how it would be trying to do it standing. I've actually never thought about it until this new studio thing came up. Strange.
Blaise, I think you're right in that's where it's headed here. That concerns me. I definitely would rather sit. What exactly to you mean when you say "standing studio?" Would that imply that the board is more elevated? I know the taller chairs would be there but not sure about the board height.

Relaunching this summer
It is great having both options to sit or stand while on air // We at KRML can only sit // The studio was designed that way , and we don't use boom mics so that we can adjust them for the purpose of standing // I also pull a 4 hour gig Mon - Fri // During the 70's - 80's I pulled a midnight - six (or seven) six nights a week for 7 years and did not stand // However I did a lot of walking around // As far as when I staighten my back ,,, that's a given --- when I stand , when I sit , when I swim , when I run , when I whatever or anything // I taught body-building and weight lifting for 2 years while in my mid 30's ,,, and to that can only say train your back to stay straight always -- - congrads on the new studio - Geo
