I think it's damned near none. I remember KJAZ being called the last
commercial jazz station, but I think there was one in Houston until not
too long ago. There was kzjz in St. Louis.

But I think the distinction being made was not between commercial and
non-commercial jazz folks, but between stations that are essentially
just music and stations that split between jazz and news. The latter
tend to carry more and more news.

And there are jazz stations that are public but not NPR.

Arturo and Jae,

Consider yourselves lucky and please keep it swinging!

To my fellow JPLers....I'd like to know just how many commercial
stations actually have a "jazz" format. Does anyone have an answer?

Bobby

I enjoy PRI/BBC's The World, the Geo Quiz and Global Hit are my favorite
segments, I deem it superior to NPR's ATC, however I am unhappy to hear
it
came at a cost of an hour loss of jazz. jazz89KUVO has just added or
should
I restate, has exchanged 2 hours of "acid-beat-hip hop" jazz for
mainstream
swing bop jazz on Friday nights at Midnight. After nearly 10 years, the
So
What radio show has been eliminated due to host's personal situation.
