Better to have him than no one. And at least he knows what he's talking 
about. Unfortunately there is a lot of ignorance about jazz in the 
mainstream media and therefore one spokesperson is about all they can 
handle. However, there are other slightly less mainstream media people, for 
example Tavis Smiley,  who bubble to the surface occasionally with great 
interviews with other jazz musicians.    It kind of reminds me of when you 
couldn't pick up an arts section without reading something about Leonard 
Bernstein.
