Aloha Jae et al,

David just did the main stage at the 19th Annual Comcast San Jose Jazz
Festival - good set, had a massive crowd. Anyone know who the B-3
player is on his tour? I feel like I should know him, but didn't
recognize him from the side. He was burnin'.

The light is on here in San Jose - another great day of the Festival,
today with Javon Jackson, Les McCann, Dr. Lonnie, East Coast Standard
Time, Judy Wexler, Manhattan Transfer, Wally Schnalle, Bob Mintzer, and
on and on....

Dayna Stephens and his quartet did the most beautiful rendition of
Skylark I have ever heard!

This week's sponsor: JazzWeek Summit 2009 -- dates and venue to be
announced in August; registration opens in September.

I'm diggin this new Sanborn. Gil Goldstein did a great job with the
arrangements. Soulful and fresh...they put a nice touch on these blues
classics. Sanborn's blues roots go back to the 60's and it's evident
here. Listen to that soul horn behind Clapton. Love him or not he has
one of the most distinctive voices in American music. Unfortunately in
my view...his poppish past has worked against his true ability. He
brings it back home on this one. Worth a listen.
