This is indeed sad sad news.  Just heard it on NPR "All Things Considered Weekend Edition."  His album, Shaft's soundtrack, including serious "jazz" tunes, i.e. "Cafe Regio" and "Early Sunday Morning."  As Moms Mabley used to say--"people dying today who ain't never died before!"  Peace to Brother Ike and sincere sympathy to his family.
