I replied to this same e-mail to correct the name of the percussionist David
is using,
<<<<<< The David Amram trio
Tony Black drums
Artie Moore bass
David Amram piano, french horn, flutes, percussion and scat vocals
Special guest Jose Rivera, leader of the Latin Jazz Giants. congas and Latin
percussion >>>>

He is using José Madera, co-leader of the former Tito Puente Orchestra, The
Latin Giants of Jazz whom like Tony and Artie are Denver residents who have
worked with Amran previously. Jose "Pin" Madera Sr was a founding member of
the Machito Afro Cuban Jazz Orchestra in 1941 and remained with the band
until the mid-60s, it's apropo "Woody" Madera is playing with David as Amram
wrote a tune titled "Machito Montuno". Madera is in Tito's band on the newly
issued Tito Puente Live at the 1977 Monterey Jazz Festival CD.

On Monday August 25th David will be part of the all-star jam session at
Dazzle Restaraunt & Lounge, starting at 4pm, Rocky Mountain time. This is
one of the 4 broadcasts/streams that jazz89KUVO and WWOZ are teaming up for.
See www.kuvo.org for details of all 4 events

Sometime Monday afternoon we expect David Amram and Bill Cosby to visit KUVO
to chat about the jam session and the Cos' new project with Hilton Ruiz,
Bill Cosby is in town with many other dignitaries taking part in the history
of the Civil Rights movement presentation, FROM FANNY LOU HAMER TO BARACK
OBAMA
A CELEBRATION IN WORDS AND MUSIC OF CIVIL RIGHTS In AMERICA, Amiri Baraka,
Cornell West, Jesse Jackson and many others are part of the presentation
David Amram has charge of the musical side.
