When thinking of trad jazz, how do you define "young"? Under 70? 50? 30?
The 15-year-old phenom Grace Kelly, altoist and composer, has a healthy
respect for Jazz' foundations, and is a very strong stage presence.
Then, there's 57-year-old Billy Novick (still "young" by some standards,
especially when you're talking Traditional jazz), of whom the Boston Globe said,
""Billy Novick...had he lived in the 1930's, would be a legend."
I've seen him dozens of times with the New Black Eagles Jazz Band, and
totally concur. He's also an award-winning composer of today.
