[JPL] featuring CDs

Hans,

Don't commit the featured CD to just that particular hour....
Feature the CD throughout the course of the particular shift......
Forward promote what you'll play from the CD in the next hour, so on and so forth.
People might actually stick around to hear all of it throughout the shift.

Aloha,

Bobby

This week's sponsor: FRANK DERRICK

To anyone who really listens, it will become immediately apparent that Frank Derrick's 'The Beat Goes On' (Jazzed Media) is an extremely well conceived, arranged, and brilliantly performed CD, marked by an interesting set of compositions that merit very close attention. It serves as an excellent showcase for Derrick's writing and arranging skills along with his incredible musicianship. The band never stops swinging. Never. The solos are flawlessly paced, and delivered without a hint of waste. A spirited and inventive big band and quintet that simply doesn't get much better.

Hi all,

we air a weekly 'featured CD' program and are kind of frustrated by the
limitations on how many cuts per CD per hour (or three hours) we can play.
Does anyone else run into this problem, and how do you deal with it? I don't
know of any quick, minimally time consuming way to contact either labels or
artists for permission to air more than the rules permit.

And of course, my general manager isn't interested when I tell him a couple
of folks have said to ignore the rules, play what you want.

Any advice?

Thanks

Hans
