>From Bob Porter's liner notes to Lucky Thompson "Body and Soul" (Nessa
n-13, LP):

"As studio work dried up during the AFM recording ban of 1948 Lucky
came to New York [from L.A.]. He worked in Harlem more often than not,
guested occasionally with Charlie Parker, recorded occasionally under
his own name and was often found in the training camp of
light-heavyweight champion Archie Moore. Moore, a jazz fan of long
standing, liked to have music with his workouts (Clark Terry, later,
had the same gig!)."
