First show of the new year with some looks back (Freddie Hubbard,
Miriam Makeba, Doug Riley), some looks forward (Joe Locke, Ted Warren,
Joey DeFrancesco, Cory Weeds, Ernie Watts) and some nostalgia of the
times.

The Hugh Masekela release has been the stealth reissue of the year,
fabulous date quietly put out with no press, the jazziest of Hughie's
career with Mkaya Ntshoko, the original drummer from the Jazz
Epistles, featured on Blues for Hughie and the wonderful Dudu Pukwana
and Larry Willis featured throughout.

We come from faraway places to the golden city, oh lord make us one ...
