        This week we chat to renowned drummer, bandleader and vocalist FRANK
PACO who is the leader of TUCAN TUCAN, whose infectious jazz influenced mix
of African and Latin rhythms with a multi lingual and cultural sound that
has caught the attention of music lovers from around southern Africa. Frank
paid his dues when working with Sakhile, Loading Zone, Virtual Jazz Reality,
Sheer Sound All Stars and musicians such as Jimmy Dludlu, Miriam Makeba,
Brenda Fassie, Judith Sephuma, Hugh Masekela and Jonathan Butler to name but
a few.  We will find out about what the group has in store for their legions
of fans, what if any changes have taken place and whether we can expect a
new album sometime soon.

This week our guest is ED TREZGER co-founder of the JAZZ WEEK website and
Jazz Programmers Mailing List, broadcaster, live sound engineer and web
entrepreneur. He is the host of a show WGMC in Rochester, N.Y. one of the
very few 24/7 jazz radio stations in the USA. We will find out about the
state of jazz and how the web has enhanced the penetration, or not in the
music market. We will also ask how jazz musicians are overcoming the
problems of a lack of interest within the recording industry and how the
artist and independent jazz record labels growth are helping jazz musicians
empower themselves. We will find out the state of jazz radio in the USA and
look at the genre breakdown.

(When Possible) ­ Live in studio interview of SA based musicians or live

We feature the music of BABU and speak to East London, Eastern Cape born
jazz, world music and electronica and bandleader KESIVAN NAIDOO. He started
drumming at the age of 11 and from there the rest became history and went on
to graduated from UCT with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in
2002. He has played with and worked with Alan Webster, Hotep Idris Galeta,
Miriam Makeba, Selaelo Selota, Feya Faku, Bheki Mseleku, Jimmy Dludlu,
Marcus Wyatt and was a member of the National Youth Jazz Band for three
years concurrently and was part of North American tour  as the drummer of
the band. His current projects include Tribe, Babu, Restless Natives and
Closet Snare, all of whom have been met with acclaim.
In 2006 Kesivan started a company with trumpeter and fellow UCT graduate Lee
Thomson called Silent Revolution Productions. They are the new owners of the
Armchair Theatre in Observatory in Cape Town, which has been an established
music venue since 1999. Silent Revolution Productions hope to make more
people aware of Art Music in South Africa through this and other venues in
the Cape.
