Jazz guitarist/composer Amanda Monaco will be interviewed by Chuck Obuchowski on WWUH Radio, 91.3 FM (and streaming live at http://wwuh.og) Tuesday, April 6 at 10 a.m., Eastern during "Out Here & Beyond," broadcasting from the University of Hartford.

Monaco, a resident of Queens, New York, grew up in Wallingford, CT. She'll be returning to her home state on Friday, April 16 with the group Playdate at Firehouse 12, 45 Crown St., New Haven; performances are at 8:30 and 10 p.m. Details at http://firehouse12.com or 203-785-0468. The quintet also features Amanda's old high school pals: saxophonist Wayne Escoffery and pianist Noah Baerman. This event is a CD release celebration for the group's self-titled debut on Posi-tone Records (www.posi-tone.com).

Fellow guitarist David Tronzo says of Monaco, "she has remained loyal to the true nature of jazz improvisation by telling stories on her instrument; her mature phrasing and emotional power are striking."

Tuesday morning's interview on WWUH will include selections from Playdate's new release, as well as music from Amanda Monaco's most recent quartet recording, "I Think I'll Keep You," issued last year on LateSet Records.

WWUH, now in its 42nd year of broadcasting, is Greater Hartford's Public Alternative Radio source. Jazz programming airs Monday - Friday, from 9 am - noon, and Tuesday - Friday evenings from 9 - midnight.
