As I'm not actively "working" this CD I guess it's OK to add to what's been suggested violinist John Blake Jr.'s "Motherless Child" which is totally devoted to gospel songs and spirituals (e.g. the title track, Go Down Moses, A City Called Heaven, A Balm In Gilead, Nobody Knows, etc.) and was released in March of 2010 and serviced to most members of the JPL...certainly an appropriate album to revisit during Black History Month.

Here's a link to the page on John's website that has some information about it.

I'm putting together a database of jazz versions of gospel songs and
spirituals, and I'd appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks,

Tom
