Subject: [JPL] Ellington playing "deep in the keys"

Ellington at the piano, reminding one of Gunther Schuller's assertion
that with "very few exceptions," he's "never encountered a pianist, jazz
or classical, who could command at once such purity of tone and range of
dynamics and timbres as Ellington."

And how about the freshness of invention in a tune he'd played thousands
of times.

John Lamb, bass
Rufus "Speedy" Jones, drums

And here's a great "Perdido" featuring Jimmy Hamilton, Rolf Ericson, and
Paul Gonsalves.
