February 2010: Reggae Month

In 2008, the government of Jamaica
declared February to be Reggae Month. It's also the month in which Bob Marley
was born and when the U.S. celebrates Black History Month.

Global Village celebrates throughout
the month with music from Jamaica - from
pioneering ska and rock steady artists to today's rising stars - to reggae from around the world, including everything from prominent American and African artists and bands to reggae groups found in some surprising and far-flung places.

Produced and hosted by Chris Heim, Global Village airs Monday through
Friday at 9 p.m. on KMUW FM
89.1 and is now also distributed nationally, airing to date on 10 stations covering 15 states. The Global Village Top 30 Show, which airs the first Friday of
every month highlights the latest and best in world music new releases.

You can listen online at www.kmuw.org and get more information at www.prx.org.

Find additional Global Village feature information, show playlists, the Top 30 new
releases list, program and world music news, videos, and more on the

presenting real music with real information without being wonky or
