Saxophonist/clarinetist Jeff Lederer will be interviewed on WWUH radio, 91.3 FM, this Tuesday at 10 a.m. EST during Chuck Obuchowski's jazz program, "Out Here & Beyond." Lederer is leading his Sunwatcher quartet at Firehouse 12, 45 Crown St., New Haven, CT on Friday, November 18 for sets at 8:30 and 10 p.m. Details at http://firehouse12.com.

Joining Lederer at Firehouse 12 are bassist Avery Sharpe, drummer Matt Wilson and pianist Jamie Saft. The Brooklyn-based reedman issued "Sunwatcher" earlier this year on Jazzheads Records, featuring the same instrumentation - with Buster Williams playing bass. The critically acclaimed release featured a poignant reading of Duke Pearson's "Christo Redentor," as well as original compositions inspired by the music of Artie Shaw, Albert Ayler and Alice Coltrane.

Lederer enjoys working in a variety of musical styles. He has been a member of Matt Wilson's edgy quartet for nearly a decade, but he also performs exciting salsa and Latin jazz with Jimmy Bosch and Bobby Sanabria. Whether co-leading the multi-directional Shakers n' Bakers with vocalist Mary LaRose or collaborating with string ensembles, Lederer imbues his improvising and writing with passion and creativity.
